Clearly these hours are not compatible with the lifestyle of an athlete
– Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri appears to have mistaken Ronaldinho, photographed leaving a restaurant in Milan after 2am last night, for an athlete.

– Holland captain Mark van Bommel gives Nigel de Jong some helpful advice on how to maim someone without breaking their legs.

The Offside Rule
I wish that all the referees and linesmen that we’ve had in our first four games would take the time to watch (over and over again) Samuel Eto’o’s third goal in Wednesdays Champions League match between Inter Milan and Werder Bremen. That is the same situation that I’ve found myself in numerous times this season only to be called offside nearly every time. Yes, when the...

North Dallas 40 2-0 Los Pinos Peru
Perfect weather. Perfect field. Perfect night.
On a night when we were short-handed, and without any substitutes for the second half, we played our best game of the season. Everything you talk about, and sometimes scream about, came to pass last night. We played an efficient, ball-control game that made us appear as if we actually knew what we were doing. Playing our second game in three days,...
Thierry Henry has been fined $2,000 by the MLS for idiotically inflicting...
– The Fiver
$2,000… huh. Why bother? After all, according to the official MLS press release, “Hartman stepped into the path of the ball and suffered a knee injury as a result.” I like Thierry Henry too but for the MLS to try and lay the blame on Hartman, for his own injury, is just...
North Dallas 40 2-2 FC Good Times
We really should be 3-0-0 yet here we sit at 1-0-2. The problem with middling results is that they leave you in the middle of the standings table. No man’s land.
The promising news is that we really haven’t properly gelled as a team and yet we have still managed to mostly outplay our more seasoned opponents. Well, maybe “outplay” is too strong of a word but we definitely...

North Dallas 40 2-1 Man U
For me, this game was mostly notable for one thing: The continuing phenomena of my inability to hit a wide open net. If I ever manage to find the groove I might become the greatest goal scorer this side of Diego Forlán. But, until then, I’m just a flop.
Props to Yo for reinforcing my single apparent talent in a coaching role: The uncanny ability to spot a cold-blooded, goal scoring,...

WAYNE ROONEY, WORLD CUP SUPERSTAR
Less than two months after the last kick of the World Cup final, and just hours after the concluding slurp of their 687-course post-World Cup swankfest featuring stabbed bison au vin on a bed of shaved truffles and guacamole fritters followed by barracuda goulash and jalapeno chili hummus with a dash of pummelled unicorn, Fifa’s tireless panel of...

F.C. Internazionale Milano
I have been a follower of Inter Milan for the last couple of seasons. But really, I was always on the outside looking in. More of an interested observer than a die-hard fan. Actually, in the beginning, more a disciple of Zlatan Ibrahimovic than anything else. But now everything has changed. Ever since I saw them play live (in person!) at Pizza Hut Park vs FC Dallas (08/05/10) I am a true...

North Dallas 40 2-2 Bucky's Banana Bangers
Well… is there anything worse than taking a ball in the groin on a 103 degree day? Probably not. Although, I think our goalkeeper, Dennis, may have felt even worse than I did. A food born illness on a 103 degree day? Not for the faint of heart. I have been telling people for weeks that the weather here has become entirely laughable. It is just too hot for human habitation. Seriously. Twenty...

Black Shoe Polish
Pleeeeaaaase don’t use black shoe polish on your football boots. There is some clear stuff you can buy if you feel the need to polish up your shoes. Chelsea Leather Food has the advantage of also having weatherproofing qualities (and it’s clear!). Soccer balls are expensive, and that black stuff won’t come off!

Bandwagon hopping
With the last of my teams having crashed out over the weekend, I have decided to throw my full support behind the South American powerhouse of Paraguay. In particular, this fan.
