North Dallas 40 2-2 FC Good Times

We really should be 3-0-0 yet here we sit at 1-0-2. The problem with middling results is that they leave you in the middle of the standings table. No man’s land.

The promising news is that we really haven’t properly gelled as a team and yet we have still managed to mostly outplay our more seasoned opponents. Well, maybe “outplay” is too strong of a word but we definitely could/should have won every game were it not for some extremely unlucky goals against us. But they all count equally then don’t they?

Interestingly enough, I feel like we might have played three of this season’s stronger opponents in our first three games. Of course, I have no way of knowing that for sure but scouring the standings tell me that it could be so (with maybe a couple of exceptions). Whether that’s good or bad, I don’t know. But I suspect we really needed to beat the two teams that we tied. Time will tell.

By scoring our first goal, Yo continues to prove that I could have a future in coaching by once again validating his status as a purely cold-blooded striker. The second goal was scored by myself on a pass from Dragan that was probably better than my shot. But, at least I managed not to endanger any cars this time out.

Next up: On Tuesday evening we will field a squad of 10 or 11 players (with no substitutes) against the remnants of the Peruvian National Team, “Los Pinos”. We have played them several times over past seasons and they’ve always been close, spirited matches. Stay tuned.
